The University of Cebu School of Law (UC Law) team was declared champion at the International Rounds of the 26th Annual Stetson International Environmental Moot Court Competition (IEMCC) in Gulfport, Florida.
UC Law bested champion teams from around the world for the title and also won the Best Oralist Award in the world finals of the competition.
The UC Law team is composed of Best Oralist winner Golda Marie Lim, Michaela Portarcos, researcher and team manager Kathleen Marie Omana, head coach Atty. Lievj Raoni Alimangohan, assistant coach Atty. Kristine Joy Argallon, adviser Atty. Rose Liza Eisma-Osorio, and their alumni mentors.
The team advanced to the world finals of the annual competition after winning the Best Overall Memorial award and placing third overall in the Southeast Asian regional rounds of the Stetson International Environmental Moot Court Competition held in January.
The International Rounds of the IEMCC were held at the Stetson University College of Law in Gulfport, Florida from April 7 to 9, 2022.
The Stetson IEMCC is the most prestigious environmental law moot court competition in the world, with over 80 teams vying for the coveted championship.
The University of the Philippines College of Law (UP Law) team also finished as world finalists in this year’s annual competition. UP Law won the 22nd Stetson International Environmental Law Moot Court Competition in 2018 after winning the Southeast Asian regional competition.
