The Philippines’ bet, Roberta Angela “Ro-An” Tamondong, has brought pride and glory to the country amid the COVID-19 pandemic by winning the Philippines’ first Miss Eco Teen International 2020 crown in Egypt.
Tamondong bested other candidates from all over the world during the grand coronation held on December 5, 2020 (December 6 in the Philippines), at the Albatros White Beach Resort in Hurghada.
The Pinay pageant titleholder became the first Filipina to win the Egypt-based beauty derby for teens, a young counterpart of Miss Eco International that promotes environmental causes.
Aside from winning the international pageant title, the 18-year-old San Beda University student also bagged other awards such as Best in Eco Dress, Best in National Costume, 1st Runner-Up Best in Beach Wear, 2nd Runner-Up Best in Talent, and Top 10 Best in Fitness.
After the competition, Tamondong went on social media to thank her supporters and to dedicate her victory to the Philippines.
“Last night was the sweetest!” she wrote on her Instagram post. “With all the hard works and preparations, despite the pandemic and all the safety and travel protocols.PHILIPPINES, WE MADE IT!
”We are crowned Ms.Eco Teen International 2020,” the Pinay beauty queen declared.
“Thank you to all of you who stayed and waited until 5am for the announcement.
”Philippines all these experiences will not be possible (if) it wasn’t from you and the greatest people I have worked and deal with in this journey,” she concluded.
With her recent win in Egypt, Roberta Angela Tamondong joins the roster of Filipina pageant winners who are advocating for the environment such as Mrs. Eco International 2019 Shiela DeForest, Miss Eco International 2018 Cynthia Thomalla, and Miss Earth 2017 Karen Ibasco.
