Filipina Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach has been hailed “Woman of the Year” during Xpedition magazine’s Annual Gala Awards (XAGA) 2020 in Dubai, giving the Philippines back-to-back wins.
The first-ever Xpedition Annual Gala Awards held in September 2019 recognized Filipina Miss Universe Philippines 2018 titleholder Catriona Gray as its “Woman of the Year” awardee.
Wurtzbach, the Miss Universe 2015 winner, received recognition from the Dubai-based luxury magazine Xpedition in partnership with non-profit Smile Train which invited some of the “most inspirational people around the world” for the second edition of the prestigious awards event hosted by Yugen PR on December 6, 2020.
The beauty queen joined fellow influential Pinoys Miss Earth Philippines Angelia Ong and Filipino-British singer Bailey May of international pop group Now United for the star-studded evening held in Sonara Camp, Dubai this year.
Wurtzbach shared her newest achievement with fans on social media.
“Thank you so much @xpeditionmagazine @josh_yugen @yugenpr for the invitation and the award. 15 awards were given out tonight and I’m so grateful to receive one of them. Thank you for recognizing my efforts,” Pia Wurtzbach wrote in an Instagram post on December 7, 2020.
“Guys I can’t thank you enough for the encouragement and positive comments…maraming maraming salamat po,” the Pinay-German beauty queen added.
The Philippines’ third Miss Universe winner Pia Wurtzbach has proven that she is “confidently beautiful with a heart” through her participation in various charities and has recently raised more than Php 1 million for health workers fighting the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the country and is now one of the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) “Living Legends”.
