Sofronio Vasquez made history by dominating the 26th season of The Voice USA and becoming the first-ever Filipino and Asian to win the mainstream singing competition in America.
The 32-year-old singer from Team Michael Bublé was crowned champion during the finals of the hit American talent show on December 11, 2024 (Philippine Time), after receiving the highest number of votes in the United States.

Vasquez captured the judges’ and viewers’ approval with his stunning performances of Sia’s “Unstoppable” and “A Million Dreams” from the movie The Greatest Showman.

The award-winning Filipino singer from Ozamiz City, Mindanao, took home the grand prize of $100,000 and a recording contract with Universal Music Group.
After the competition, Vasquez expressed gratitude to his Filipino supporters.
“To all the Filipinos out there, in America, maraming maraming salamat po sa suporta n’yo. To my hometown, Utica, New York, you guys are the best. I can’t wait to go home, celebrate, and bring the trophy,” he said.
