Filipino-Canadian Riza Santos proudly represented the Philippines and successfully raised the country’s national colors in Mexico after winning the Miss Global 2019 3rd Runner-Up crown.
The former actress and TV host with mixed Spanish, Chinese, and Filipino heritage shined among the 60 candidates from all over the world and was hailed as one of the pageant’s top winners in the coronation held in Oaxaca on January 18 (January 19 in the Philippines).
Here are the winners of Miss Global 2019:
Miss Global 2019 – Czech Republic
1st Runner-up – Peru
2nd Runner-up – Brazil
3rd Runner-up – Philippines
4th Runner-up – Australia
Prior to her participation in the recently concluded Miss Global pageant, the Vice President and Corporate Strategist of technology firm Argyle Fox Inc. won titles in various beauty contests. Santos was crowned Miss Earth Canada in 2006 before she entered the ABS-CBN’s Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Edition season 2. She eventually won first runner-up.
Riza Santos, who is an advocate of children’s welfare, was also crowned Miss World Canada in 2011 and Miss Universe Canada in 2013.
The Canada-based beauty queen now joins the list of Filipinas with mixed ancestry who have proudly represented the Philippines in their respective international pageants such as Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray (Filipino-Australian), Miss International 2018 1st Runner-up Ahtisa Manalo (Filipino-Spanish-Swedish-Finnish), Miss Universe 2019 Top 20 Gazini Ganados (Filipino-Palestinian), and Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach (Filipino-German).
