Filipino-American National Basketball Association (NBA) superstar Jordan Clarkson surprised two Pinoy frontline heroes with a special holiday treat during the Christmas episode of the Republika Huddle show.
Two frontliner fans – teacher CD Lastimosa and Dr. Jelvin Co – had the chance to talk to the 28-year-old Utah Jazz guard himself through a virtual meet-and-greet in the Paskong Pinoy video special uploaded on December 22, 2020.
The episode is part of the Republika Huddle video series by NBA Philippines which teamed up with Jordan Clarkson to bring smiles to the modern-day heroes who have worked tirelessly to serve the Filipino people amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Republika Huddle host Nikko Ramos invited the Filipino basketball fans to join a video conference call before finally revealing the mystery guest, NBA’s and the Philippines’ very own Jordan Clarkson.
“I just want to say thank you guys, you’re the real heroes to be honest with you. You guys keep this thing moving,” says the professional basketball player for the Utah Jazz.
The Fil-Am NBA player recognized the Filipino frontliners’ efforts and commended them for doing such a great job despite the challenges they faced in difficult times.
“You guys are right there seeing everything and making a change and a difference. So I just want to say thank you guys and I appreciate everything you do for everybody,” Clarkson added.
The two Pinoy basketball enthusiasts were also gifted special merchandise from the NBA store as a way to thank them for their sacrifices while working in the frontlines of the coronavirus disease.
Tributes for Filipino frontliners all over the world include the giant Philippine flag display made of 3,000 solar lights collected from the award-winning Light it Forward movement that honors frontliners who have put their lives on the line to save others.
