The Philippines’ team of young student-mathematicians emerged as overall champions at the 7th International Young Mathematicians’ Convention (IYMC) which wrapped up in December at City Montessori School in Lucknow, India.
The 21 young Filipino mathletes in the senior and junior division brought home a total of 23 gold, 6 silvers, and 3 bronze medals, according to Mathematics Trainers Guild-Philippines (MTG).
Philippine Team A Seniors was declared the overall champion.
Philippine Team B Juniors was first runner-up.
In the senior division, Philippine team A was declared champion in the relay contest and first-runner up in the math quiz while Philippine team D was champion in the math quiz and second runner in the relay contest. Philippine team B ended the contest as 2nd runner-up and 1st runner up in the math quiz and relay contest respectively. In the junior division, Philippine team C was declared first runner up in the math quiz.

IYMC is an International Event organized by City Montessori School GomtiNagar every alternate year since2002 to give mathematical expression to the youth.
This year’s IYMC was participated in by the following countries, Bangladesh, Brazil Bhutan, Indonesia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Nepal, Nigeria, Russia, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand, Uzbekistan, United Arab Emirates, United States of America and Vietnam.
