Fil-Am band, The Filharmonic, has landed a spot in the newest hit Hollywood movie Pitch Perfect 2.
The Los Angeles-based band is featured in the competition scene of the second intallment of the popular movie musical. In ‘Pitch Perfect 2,’ the boys of The Filharmonic play Manila Envy, one of the groups competing against the Barden Bellas.
The movie spot kicks-off the musician’s next journey after its national tour with Linkin Park, Black Eyed Peas, and Pentatonix. The group was able to join the tour after it made the semi-finals in NBC’s hit musical “The Sing-Off.”
The Filharmonic is composed of vocalists Joe Caigoy, Barry Fortgang, Trace Gaynor, and VJ Rosales with and Jules Cruz on vocal bass, and beat boxer Niko Del Rey.
The group’s official Facebook page lists their repertoire as A Cappella, pop, hip hop, R&B and their “melodic vocal style exemplifies an urbanesque hip-hop sound with ’90s nostalgia.”
Pitch Perfect 2 is the sequel to the 2012 film which is adapted from Mickey Rapkin’s non-fiction book, Pitch Perfect: The Quest for Collegiate A Cappella Glory. The film casts another Fil-Am, actress Hailee Steinfeld who hails from Cebu.
