Filipina beauty queen Pia Wurtzbach’s work never stops as she gratefully announced that she and her team successfully raised more than Php 1 million for health workers fighting the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the Philippines.
The Miss Universe 2015 winner who ended the Philippines’ 42-year title draught shared the good news that her 5-member team has exceeded their Php 1 million fundraising goal for the medical frontliners.
“Took a bit of time before posting this but let me finally say… THANK YOU!!” the actress-turned-beauty queen wrote on her Instagram post on May 19, 2020. “Because of your help, we exceeded our goal of 1 million php!”
The Filipina-German beauty also reported that they have donated not only face masks but also food packs to different hospitals.
“And last week we finally sent out our last batch of medical masks,” the third Pinay Miss Universe winner said. “That’s a total of 44,000 masks to 37 hospitals. We even sent out meals to an ICU unit for 5 weeks with the extra that we got! And that’s because of you. Thank you so much!!”
“And for transparency,” she went on, “all the updates, photos and receipts are on the go get funding page and my official fb page.”
The 30-year-old UNAIDS Goodwill Ambassador and the first Filipino to have a wax figure at Madame Tussauds Museum also thanked and enumerated various business organizations that have been helping her in her fundraising drive.
The Walk of Fame 2018 inductee also acknowledged the sacrifices rendered by the Filipino health workers who are in the front line against the coronavirus pandemic.
“Mabuhay ang ating mga frontliners na patuloy na lumalaban para maalagaan ang ating mga kababayan na may sakit. Maraming salamat po.”
The actress-YouTube vlogger also announced her future plans: “This is not the end of my fundraising efforts! I’ve partnered with @wwfphilippines to push for 3 fundraising campaigns that I will be posting in the next coming days. And I’m so excited about that..Lets continue to fight!”
