The Philippines’ major production networks, ABS-CBN, GMA 7, CNN Philippines, along with HBO/Warner Media-produced series, have together won a total of 23 national prizes at the 2020 Asian Academy Creative Awards.
Filipino films, television series, and media personalities grabbed more than half of the 40 national awards given to 16 competing countries who will vie for the Grand Awards in the Singapore media festival slated for December.
The Asia-Pacific’s most prestigious awards for creative excellence announced on October 15, 2020, the awarding of 13 national prizes to ABS-CBN, 6 to GMA, 2 to CNN Philippines, and 2 to HBO/Warner Media productions.
The top-grossing 2019 film “Hello Love Goodbye” starring Alden Richards and Kathryn Bernardo won 3 titles including Best Feature Film, Best Direction of Cathy Garcia-Molina, and Best Original Screenplay.
Filipino actors Arjo Atayde won Best Actor in a Leading Role in “Bagman” and Angeli Bayani won Best Actress in a Leading Role for the award-wining Food Lore: Island of Dreams.
GMA network, which bagged the most awards for the Philippines in 2019, won 6 titles this year.
