Philippine Airlines (PAL) won the 2019 World’s Most Improved Carrier Award from the Skytrax World Airline Awards – considered the “Oscars” of the aviation industry.
The national flag carrier was ranked Top 1 by the global air transport rating organization and recognized at the World Airline Awards held at the Paris Air Show on June 18.
The World’s Most Improved Airline award was given to PAL for achieving the biggest leap in product and service quality among a survey of over 350 leading airlines worldwide.
PAL was ranked second Most Improved Airline in 2018. PAL also rose 19 notches from its 49th spot in 2018 into the 2019 Top 30 Airlines in the World.

Skytrax also gave Philippine Airlines high rankings in the following categories:
- Top 10 World’s Best Business Class Comfort Amenities
- Top 10 Best Airline Staff in Asia
- Top 11 World’s Best Cabin Crew
- Top 11 World’s Best Airport Services
- Top 11 World’s Best Premium Economy Class
- Top 14 World’s Best Economy Class
According to the Skytrax awards website, the World’s Most Improved Airline award received by Philippine Airlines “reflects Quality improvement across the entire Awards programme, which analyses an airline’s change in the global rating, and performance improvements in different award categories.”
Asia’s first airline’s 4-star Global Carrier rating was reaffirmed by Skytrax after the comprehensive quality audits performed in December 2018 and January 2019.
PAL’s top rankings at the World Airline Awards were based on survey results of more than 20 million travelers, encompassing over 100 nationalities and 335 airlines – the largest passenger satisfaction survey in the world.
