Filipina jins Jamie Lim and Joane Orbon nabbed a pair of gold medals at the Karate Premier League Kharkiv Open 2020 held in Ukraine on Sunday (Philippine Time), firming up their bids for berths in the Tokyo Olympics.
Karate Pilipinas Sports Federation announced the double golds and two bronze medals for Team Philippines in the Olympics Qualifying Event held February 22, 2020 (February 23 Philippine Time).
2019 Southeast Asian Games Women’s -61kg Kumite gold medalist Jaime Lim excelled in the -68kg division to pick up her gold.
Joane Orbon, who recently joined the Philippine National Team after leaving the United States karate federation, demonstrated her powerful skills as she dominated the -61kg division to secure her gold.

- Joane Orbon Gold -61kg
- Alwyn Batican Bronze -67kg
- Sharief Afif Bronze -84kg
The Philippines is looking to send 38 Olympians to the Tokyo Games scheduled for July to August 2020.
Pole vaulter Ernest John Obiena and gymnast Carlos Edriel Yulo have secured their Olympic berths in 2019.
