Legendary Filipino iconic actor-director Eddie Garcia will be honored with a special tribute to his life’s work at the 23rd Udine Far East Film Festival (FEFF 23) in Italy.
The hybrid film festival will hold a tribute section entitled “Eddie Garcia: Life as a Film Epic (Ommagio a Eddie Garcia : La vita come un’epopea cinematografica),” from June 24 to July 2, 2021.
It will screen five of Eddie Garcia’s films, including “Pagdating sa Dulo” (1971), “Bwakaw” (2012), “Rainbow’s Sunset” (2018), “Shadows” (2000), and “Sinasamba Kita” (1982).
The multi-awarded actor, who passed away in 2019, is credited for 659 movies, including 37 as a director.
The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) has also announced that eight Filipino film entries, including Garcia’s special tribute section, have made it to the official selection of this year’s Far East Film Festival.
Award-winning director Antoinette Jadaone’s “Fan Girl” and Joel Lamangan’s “Anak ng Macho Dancer” will represent the Philippines in the competition, while Grace Simbulan’s “A is for Agustin” will have its film screening under the Documentaries Section (Out of Competition).
