Cebu’s pride, internationally-acclaimed multi-disciplinary artist Francis Sollano, is set to be showcased in the upcoming Water Towns Environmental Film and Arts Festival organized by Duke Kunshan University in China from April 11-14, 2019.
Francis Sollano, who has been named a Global Shaper by the World Economic Forum on Association of Southeast Asian Nations (WEF-ASEAN), will showcase in China his revolutionary fashion art work called “Trashion.”
The creative artist, known for his diverse works in sculpture, space, installations, portraits, and fashion, started “Trashion” using upcycled waste materials to create wearable art.
The social practice artist, who creates pieces and installations made from non-toxic, non-organic domestic and industrial garbage, is one of the 5 featured artists at the Water Towns festival.
The Filipino advocate of indigenous fabrics and welfare of aboriginal communities was a Salzburg Global Fellow in Austria and UN activist in 2016 during the Paris accords, and is the co-founder of the Green Art Lab Alliance Asia and actively works with Youth for a Livable Cebu.
Francis Sollano’s art pieces will be on exhibit alongside Kong NING (China), FINCH DESIGN (Shanghai), DKU Undergraduate Fashion Designers, Models & the Urban Dance Troop, with Music by Teqiao LI .
Trashion by Francis Sollano will be showcased at the Fashion Gala on April 12 at the Water Pavilion and Water Ponds of Duke Kunshan University on No. 8 Duke Avenue, Kunshan, Jiangsu, China.
