Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray is auctioning her Miss Universe pin to raise funds for Angel Locsin and Anne Curtis’ Shop and Share 2020 fundraiser for test-kits.
The 4th Filipina Miss Universe posted on her Facebook account on June 7, 2020, that she is auctioning some of her pre-loved items to aid the country’s COVID-19 testing capacity.
“The MU pin, in particular, is super sentimental to me as it secured my sash as I competed in the Preliminary competition of Miss Universe 2018. But I’ve decided to dedicate it to a cause,” Gray said in her social media post.
Catriona Gray wore the pin on her sash as she debuted her now-iconic “Lava Walk” and “slow-mo turn” and while wearing her Mayon Volcano-inspired red gown on the Miss Universe stage in December 2018 in Thailand.
“A personal, handwritten note on the Official Miss Universe 2018 Comp-Card will also accompany the pin,” according to the Shop and Share website found in this link.
Catriona Gray has put up 2 of her items for the Shop and Share auction:
- Miss Universe Pin – used in Preliminary Competition of Miss Universe 2018. The pin has hit Php250,000 as of June 10 with one day to go before bidding ends.
- Karen Millen Embellished Heels – the shoes’ current bid is at Php30,000.
Catriona Gray is auctioning her items on Shop and Share store, an online platform that allows well-known people to donate personal items for a cause, launched by humanitarian aid workers and Filipino actresses Angel Locsin and Anne Curtis.
Other artists who contributed to the fundraiser for test kits for the poor are singer Mark Bautista whose paintings raised Php 410,000 and OPM legend Ogie Alcasid’s with his toy donation.
Catriona Gray has championed various causes including the feeding of poor families affected by the lockdown and various children’s charities.
