Billy Crawford’s collaboration with Marcus Davis Jr. and James Reid to remake Davis’ “Filipina Girl” pays homage to all Filipinas.
The singer and TV host’s newest single was released by Viva Records on February 20, with a Lyric Video highlighting lines praising the women of the Philippines with “There ain’t nothing in this world like the Filipina girl.”
The trio fittingly sang the song to serenade Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray as she was welcomed on the ABS-CBN show, It’s Showtime, during her Grand Homecoming festivities on February 23.
The 3-minute track is an ode to their respective Filipina lovers — Billy’s wife Coleen Garcia, actor James’ girlfriend Nadine Lustre, and music producer-singer Marcus’ wife Amber Davis – the original Filipina girl referred to in Davis’ original release.
Crawford had previously collaborated with Davis on the Yolanda survivors-themed “Listen With Your Heart” featuring Filipino global performers Journey’s Arnel Pineda, Broadway’s Lea Salonga, Asia’s Nightingale Lani Misalucha, and Billy.
Filipina girl features Reid singing in Filipino the lines –
“Paggising sa umaga
‘Di mo lang alam
Ikaw ang tanging nasa isip
O binibini
Ika’y laging panaginip
Halika na baby
Nasasabik ako lately”
Billy Crawford’s Filipina Girl featuring Marcus Davis Jr. and James Reid are available on Spotify, Apple Music and other digital music stores.
