Two of Baguio’s Burnham Park Swan Boats went sent to rescue Cagayan flood victims over the weekend.
Vivian Celso, the owner of the famous tourist spot’s swan boats, offered to help with the search and rescue of residents in Cagayan who were suffering massive flooding after Typhoon Ulysses struck the Philippines on November 11, 2020.
Celso coordinated with the Baguio City Police Office and the Police Regional Office Cordillera to have her two boats sent off to Cagayan on November 15.
The swan boats can carry 10 persons at a time and are considered ideal as rescue boats since the fiberglass hulls are not easily punctured as compared to that of rubber boats.
Other private initiatives to help in the rescue and relief efforts of Filipinos struck by disaster include Ivatan Vernalyn Amarillo who opened her home for Cagayan flood victims and the University of the Philippines alumni network that is leading a donation drive.
