Riverdale’s famous residents, Archie Andrews, and his friends, are seen on a new Archie Comics cover trying out the most iconic travel experiences in the country – eating isaw and halo-halo and taking selfies at the Luneta Park in Manila.
The five stars of Archie Comics, freckle-faced redhead Archie and his friends Betty Cooper, Veronica Lodge, Jughead Jones, and Reggie Mantle, are shown as travelers in the Philippines on the exclusive cover revealed on Sunday by Filbar’s and Comic Odyssey.
The Archie and Friends Travel Issue #1 cover created by Miguel Mercado had Archie in the middle wearing a shirt with a Manila jeepney design, to his left Betty and Veronica holding their glasses of “halo-halo” shaved ice dessert, and to his right best pal Jughead about to eat “isaw” barbecued pig/chicken intestines as Reggie takes a selfie amidst the background of the Jose Rizal Monument at the Luneta.
The cover was revealed on October 20, the last day of the SuperManila Pop Culture Convention. Archie and Friends Travel Issue #1 will be released in November 2019.
Earlier this year, Archies Funhouse Comics Double Digest #26 titled “On The Road Again!” featured The Archies garage band from Riverdale coming to the Philippines to perform in Manila concert grounds as part of their international concert tour.
