Aiko Melendez won Best Actress Global and Epy Quizon received Best Actor recognition at the 2015 International Film Festival Manhattan (IFFM), highlighting a night of multiple awards for Filipinos.
Melendez won her second international award for her role in the film “Asintado (Between the Eyes)” which also won for Louie Ignacio the Best Director Global award.
Quizon won for his portrayal for Ken Kwek’s Singaporean film “Unlucky Plaza.”
The 2015 IFFM gave a total of 8 awards to Filipino talents, including the Best Ensemble Cast Feature for the Joel Lamangan film “Lihis,” led by Gloria Diaz, Lovi Poe, Jake Cuenca, Isabelle Daza and Joem Bascom.
The Best Feature Film Global went to “Sundalong Kanin” directed by Janice O’Hara and produced by Sheila Bugia-Ambray.
Best Actor Short went to Albert Chan Paran for “Julie” which also earned for its director Clanch Dayve Belleza an Honorable Mention.
Best Student Film was awarded to “Yolanda” directed by Krizia May Villanueva and Jennelyn Castillejo.
IFFM was established in 2011 by New York City-based and award-winning Filipino filmmaker and critic Luis Pedron to showcase entertaining and diverse films to equal the diversity of New York.
