Adamson University opened its doors to house and care for the University of The Philippines-Philippine General Hospital (UP PGH) health workers as the hospital has been designated a COVID-19 referral center.
The Catholic university in San Marcelino, Manila, opened its women’s volleyball team dormitory to house and feed around 24-30 PGH health workers. UP-PGH has been designated as a COVID-19 referral center.
“Every week a new group comes in because their duties are a week-long, then they take a break for a week, so a new group comes in after that,” shared by University’s representative to the UAAP Board of Managing Directors, Fr. Aldrin Suan, CM.
To help health workers get to work and back safely, Adamson also deployed two of its buses.
“We are deploying two buses daily to transport the staff of Makati Medical Center because there’s transport right now. To help them get to work and home safe, we gave them our buses,” Fr. Suan shared.
The first bus destination is to and from Paliparan-Molino Road in Cavite while the other bus has a pick-up point at the LRT-Monumento Station in Caloocan.
Fr. Suan also shared that more than 60 student-athletes who are still in their dorms took the initiative to be in charge of packing relief goods to be distributed to barangays in need in Manila, Paranaque, and Valenzuela.
“Sila talaga yung nagli-lead sa donation drive natin.” Fr. Suan said.
Adamson University reported that the San Marcelino-based group of Vincentian priests have been helping the poorest members of their community, frontliners, and the students who are stranded in different dorms during this COVID 19 Pandemic. They have distributed relief packs, hot meals, and hygiene kits for the past five weeks.
