London-based Filipina actress Lourdes Faberes is earning praise for her stellar performance in a standout episode of “The Sandman”, the Netflix adaptation of the popular DC Comic of the same name.
Faberes played Kate Fletcher in the new series’ fifth episode, “24/7”, which has been lauded by fans and critics as one of the show’s best so far.
The Filipino-born actress’ memorable portrayal of the businesswoman who becomes trapped at a 24-hour diner drew the attention of Pinoy fans of the dark fantasy series.
Faberes wrote a tweet in Filipino and gave a shoutout to Pinoy fans to thank them for their continued support.

The “24/7” star also earned the approval of “The Sandman” creator Neil Gaiman himself who described her as “amazing.”

Gaiman has previously tweeted about his admiration for Philippine folklore and Filipino writers.
Faberes had previously worked with the acclaimed English author and played Pollution, one of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse, in the Amazon series “Good Omens”.
Lourdes Faberes grew up in the Philippines and later moved to the United Kingdom to further develop her acting career. Prior to her roles in “The Sandman” and “Good Omens”, she acted in plays in the National Theatre and was part of the Repertory Philippines theater company.
“The Sandman” follows Morpheus, played by Tom Sturridge, who embarks on a journey across worlds to find what was stolen from him and restore his power. The series topped Netflix’s Top 10 rankings after premiering in August and is now streaming on Netflix.
Filipinos with starring roles in Netflix shows include Jon Jon Briones who plays the lead role of a Filipino doctor in the psychological-horror drama series, “Ratched”, and Anthony Keyvan who joined the cast of the upcoming Netflix spinoff series, XO, Kitty.
