Filipina tennis champion Alexandra “Alex” Eala has climbed to her professional career-high Top 400 rank ahead of her Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) debut this May.
Alex Eala is #394 in the newest Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) ranking, placing her within the world’s top 400 female players since she started playing in professional tournaments in 2020 just before the coronavirus hit pandemic proportions.
The teen tennis sensation from the Philippines climbed the WTA rankings on April 25, 2022, after winning her second professional championship title in the doubles event in Thailand in early April.
The 16-year-old Eala previously entered the WTA Top 1000 ranking at the start of 2021 after winning her first professional championship title in the singles event at Manacor, Spain.
By August 2021, the Rafa Nadal Academy scholar had surged to #505 in the WTA ranking.
Alex Eala is set to join the Philippine national team as it defends its overall champion crown at the SEA Games in Hanoi, Vietnam scheduled for May 12-23.
