De La Salle University (DLSU) has retained its leadership among the Philippines’ higher educational institutions offering business & economics subjects and has entered the education subject leaders’ list according to the 2022 Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE WUR) by Subject.
BUSINESS & ECONOMICS
DLSU kept its place in the 601+ bracket in Business and Economics among 795 universities included in the 2022 edition of the annual THE WUR rankings released on October 13, 2021.
The Business & Economics Subject Ranking assesses universities by their performance in the following disciplines: business and management, accounting and finance, and economics and econometrics. The list is topped by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Stanford University.
The Lasallian educational institution was in the same bracket when it made its first appearance in the Business and Economics category of THE WUR By Subject Rankings in the 2021 edition.
EDUCATION
DLSU has also entered the Education Subject Rankings for the first time securing its spot in the 201-250 bracket in THE WUR By Subject.
DLSU joins the 597 universities led by Stanford University that are leading across the following disciplines: education, teacher training, and academic studies in education.
SOCIAL SCIENCES
DLSU is joined by the University of the Philippines (UP) in the Social Sciences Rankings at 601+ bracket among 870 universities, repeating their 2021 edition ranking.
DLSU and UP were ranked among universities led by the University of Oxford that are leading across the following disciplines: communication and media studies, politics and international studies (including development studies), sociology, and geography.
THE WUR By Subject table uses the same trusted and rigorous performance indicators as the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2022, but the methodology has been recalibrated to suit the individual fields.
Three top universities were ranked in the 2022 edition of THE WUR. UP led the Philippines’ overall ranking in THE WUR 2022 at the 600-800 bracket while DLSU ranked at 1201+. Ateneo de Manila University was included in the list for the first time on a Reporter status as an active participant in the rankings.
Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation and University Fellow Dr. Raymond Tan shared that DLSU’s presence in these subject rankings attests to its commitment to the generation of new knowledge as an integral part of higher education.
In her message, Ramon V. del Rosario College of Business Dean Dr. Emilina Sarreal said, “As the premier business school in our country, RVR COB has emphasized the need for humanistic and ethical management rooted in our university’s commitment to responsible management education, research, and community engagement.”
Meanwhile, School of Economics Dean Dr. Arlene Inocencio noted: “To be ranked for the first time was a recognition of SOE’s commitment to quality and service. To be ranked the second time is confirmation that we are moving in the right direction.”
Dr. Rhoderick Nuncio, Dean of the College of Liberal Arts, acknowledged the collective achievement of the faculty and students as he stressed the need to build more national and international partnerships “to earnestly formulate solutions and innovations that are geared towards poverty alleviation, good governance, environmental sustainability and the promotion of peace and social justice.”
