Filipino-American basketball prospect Sage Tolentino has received scholarship offers from five United States’ National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I schools and eventually committed to Auburn University in Alabama.
The 7-foot center made the announcement that he will be joining the Auburn Tiger 2022 class on his Instagram post on October 15, 2020.
The other 4 top US NCAA schools that have expressed interest in the Gilas Pilipinas prospect were the Cincinnati Bear Cat’s of Ohio’s University of Cincinnati, Tennessee State Tigers of Tennessee State University, Kansas Jayhawks of Kansas University, and Kentucky Wildcats of University of Kentucky.
“My family and I have prayed about this day since I was a kid. I am beyond blessed and I give God all the Glory. Auburn University’s core traditions are passion and spirit and they are exactly the program I want to spend my time at developing at the next level. It’s great to be an Auburn Tiger. War Eagle! 🤙🏽🌊” wrote Tolentino.
Auburn University was very thrilled with Hawaii-based Sage’s decision saying he was a “HUGE GET” for a team, said Barstool Auburn’s Instagram post.

The 16-year-old who plays for the Maryknoll High School in Honolulu, Hawaii, led his team in back-to-back state championships in 2019-2020. Last season, he averaged 13 points, 10 rebounds and 3.5 blocks a game.
Tolentino is currently training alongside 2 other Filipinos in East-West Private (EWP) – NBA G League player Kai Sotto and Far Eastern University’s Cholo Anonuevo.
