Ayala Malls customers can be heroes when they buy fresh produce at the BuyANI Farmers Market.
This is the inspiring message of the Ayala Malls in partnership with the Department of Agriculture (DA), Ayala Foundation, and the Restaurant Owners Association of the Philippines (RestoPH) in launching the BuyANI Fresh Produce Market.
A project that aims to show the solidarity, BuyANI is a testament to the mission of rebuilding the nation through continuous support for local businesses, communities, and farmers.
With rigid safety protocols in place, Ayala Malls customers can enjoy safe shopping for the freshest produce and regional food favorites. Proudly offered by the very hands who grew them are organic vegetables and fruits, fresh dairy products, herbs, wines, coffee, and other locally cultivated items in well-curated stalls at DA-controlled prices.
Consumers also have the additional heart-warming benefit of being able to contribute to uplifting the livelihoods of these local farmers with every purchase.
Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary William Dar lauds this initiative to help our noble farmers protect their livelihood who were greatly affected by the logistical difficulties brought about by the quarantine. “The DA hopes that with this partnership with RestoPH and Ayala Malls, we can open additional/alternative markets to help the farmers and fisherfolk sell their produce/products. An assured market and decent income will encourage our farmer producers, who we refer as backliners amidst this pandemic, to continue to produce food. With the strong support of the private sector, the DA, is confident that it can achieve its goal, “Masagang ani at mataas na kita” and a food- secure Philippines with prosperous farmers and fishermen.”
Jennylle Tupaz, Ayala Malls President shares, “We continue our mission in uplifting the lives of the Filipinos during these unprecedented times. BuyANI is geared to help Filipino farmers sell their fresh produce and rebuild their business as they steadily get back on their feet and push forward. We understand the struggles of the heroes of our agriculture industry and local restaurateurs alike. By bringing them closer to the consumers through this project, we hope we are able to help alleviate some of their difficulties and contribute positively to the industry as a whole.”
Partnering with DA for three years in a row, Tupaz adds, “Together with the Ayala Foundation, we share the commitment in ensuring sustainable livelihood and shared prosperity of the whole ecosystem of the food industry, starting with the source, the merchants, and, of course, the consumers.”
As awareness and patronage for organic, fresh produce are on the rise, the farm-to-table concept has also been gaining great popularity in the past years, a movement fully supported RestoPH. RestoPH President Eric Teng shares, “We are very happy to be part of the BuyANI Market project because as restaurateurs, we always try to source the best high-quality ingredients. The fact that we can do this, at the same time being able to fully support our hard-working farmers, is truly gratifying. We believe that with this collaboration, we can all work together to reboot the country’s food business industry starting from the source of our supplies.”
Though economically affected by the pandemic, the restaurant industry remains optimistic. Teng continues, “We are greatly appreciative of the support that Ayala Malls has given to the restaurant industry, with initiatives such as the expanded dining places in the alfresco areas and at the food courts with physical distancing prompts. We’re all connected. And we should come together. Projects like these are just positive displays of unity and watching out for each other in these challenging times.”
