Hollywood top comedian Jo Koy is the latest Filipino face with a Funko pop toy collectible.
The Filipino-American comedian, known for his humorous takes at uniquely Pinoy habits, was given his own toy figure in the famous pop culture Funko toy collectibles in July.
Funko founder Mike Becker personally introduced the comedian’s popular toy figure during the Digital Creative Conversations event by Los Angeles-based Pinoy group Search to Involve Pilipino Americans (SIPA) on July 25, 2020.
Jo Koy’s Funko Pop joins other Filipino-inspired figures with a Funko such as the iconic superhero “Darna”, world-boxing champ Manny Pacquiao, and fast-food giant icon Jollibee.
The top comedian did an unboxing of his own pop figure on Funko’s FunTV show and was so thrilled to describe the toy as it was his exact outfit in one of his performances.
“This is the coolest one ever made! I’m being biased of course. Funko, you killed this one,” said the comedian.
“I’m honored to be part of the iconic Funko POP! family!” added Jo Koy.
Becker described his encounter with Jo Koy as “super fun”.
“That’s really fun for us to be working with him and it was really fun for me to get to go to one of his shows, and it was cool my wife got to take pictures with him and I love him, too. It turned out really super cool,” said the company’s founder.
Jo Koy has also personally signed around 34,000 boxes of his own Funko pop figure to add a personal touch to the collection.
The Jo Koy figures are now available online through his website here, along with shirts bearing the new design.
The comedian is known for being so proud of his Filipino roots as he showed off the Philippines’ charms during his guesting on The Kelly Clarkson Show, in his new Netflix show “In His Elements”, and in a video showing the use of “tabo” as a solution to toilet paper shortage.
