Marcelito Pomoy has built a new home for Nanay Aurora, a poor grandma he found living alone in a makeshift house as he was distributing relief goods in Quezon province.
Pomoy heard about the situation of Nanay Aurora while he was conducting relief efforts for families affected by the lockdown to stop the spread of COVID-19.
The world-famous Filipino singer known as the man with the golden female voice rebuilt Lola Aurora’s house in Calauag, Quezon province in a span of 4 days.
Lola Aurora transferred to her new home last May 4, 2020, in time for the rainy season. The grandmother said she was so happy because rainwater was no longer dripping from the roof, Marcelito shared on Facebook.
Marcelito Pomoy’s YouTube vlog showed how happy Nanay Aurora was when she saw her newly built and furnished house,
“Masaya ako sa inyong kabutihan. Masaya ako kasi pinagawa niyo ang aking bahay. Sobra ang pasasalamat ko kasi mayroong tumulong sa akin,” Nanay Aurora said as she cried and even danced a jig after admitting she has been crying and praying for help.
The situation of Nanay Aurora’s house came to Pomoy’s knowledge when a concerned netizen, Aiza Hernandez, shared a photo on Facebook about the poor grandma’s situation.
“Naaawa po kasi ako kay nanay na iyong bahay niya giba-giba. Kaya po naisipan ko po na ipost si nanay. Kasi nakita ko din naman po sa Facebook na may mga tumutulong-tulong baka matulungan din po si nanay kasi wala din naman po kaming maitutulong sa kaniya,” Hernandez shared.
Hernandez said that Nanay Aurora had been living alone in her old dilapidated shanty house for more than 10 years.
Marcelito whose life story as an abandoned child looking for his parents and family was revealed to the Philippine nation when he joined and eventually won Pilipinas Got Talent, shared with Nanay Aurora that he also grew up alone and is now giving back for the blessings he received from God to those who really are in need.
“Thank you dear Lord Jesus Christ for blessing me with people who have a big heart and willing to help me make this dream a reality… God bless you all… ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️,” Marcelito posted as he thanked donors and people who are helping his charity work.
“Nanay Aurora can now sleep and rest well with her new home that we also furnish with everything she needs for her to have a comfortable life… Thank you so much not just who donated financially but also to those who are there with us physically to finish this house.. God bless all of you..” Pomoy added.
Marcelito had previously distributed essential supplies for babies such as vitamins, powdered milk, and diapers, and relief goods to families under lockdown.
The singer who effortlessly switches from tenor to soprano voice while singing operatic pop songs also had a Facebook Live concert fundraiser and posted a cover of Michael Jackson’s “Heal The World” as a prayer song for victims of the coronavirus disease.
