Valentine’s Day 2020 for local government employees turned out to be a color-coded event as a memo required the wearing of clothes according to one’s relationship status.
The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Memorandum dated February 13, 2020, directed all personnel across the Philippines to participate in the celebration of Valentine’s Day on February 14th by wearing the color-coded shirt or dress that corresponds to the status of their love life.
The DILG Memo was signed by Florida Dijan, Assistant Secretary of Human Resource Development and posted on DILG’s official social media.
Whether the employee wants to hide that he/she is single, its complicated, bitter, broken, waiting for someone, friend-zoned, the dress code revealed his/her love life status.
Here is DILG’s dress code based on love life status:
RED – TAKEN… for granted
WHITE – In a relationship
PINK – Umaasang babalikan (Hopeful for a reconciliation)
ORANGE – Pinuyat pero ‘di jinowa (Led on)
YELLOW – Moving on
GREEN – Bitter and broken
BLUE – Looking/waiting for someone
VIOLET – Friend-zoned
BROWN – It’s complicated
GRAY – Single
BLACK – Happy and contented
“Dress code is also a way of showing off your personality while maintaining a professional look” the memorandum said.
Facebook user and fireman Russell TriMister responded to this announcement of DILG by posting a photo of DILG-BFP personnel wearing black shirt with a caption “Happy and contented… buti nalang shirt! Pag pants… -pinuyat pero di jinowa.”
Valentine’s Day or the feast of St. Valentine is celebrated annually on February 14 where individuals express their affection to their loved ones with gifts and greetings.
The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) also presented a one-of-a-kind Valentine’s Date titled #PAWSfursdateTAAL, a two-day event on February 12 and 13 which took participants on a special road trip to meet and care for the rescued horses from the Taal Volcano eruption. The collected fees go to the 44 horses that PAWS rescued from Taal.
