Filipino artist Vincent Kristan “Vin” Quilop’s watercolor art and sketches, inspired by Manila’s iconic beauty, are back in the Philippines after the Art Vancouver showcase in Canada.
Vincent Quilop was the only Filipino to be invited to exhibit his artwork along with hundreds of artists from all over the world at Art Vancouver, Canada’s largest international art fair held in April 2019.
Vincent Quilop’s art are back in the country and can be viewed by the Filipino audience at the artist’s first solo exhibit to be staged this September in Makati.
The 25 year-old Pinoy artist’s solo art exhibit entitled “In Between Manila” will run for two months beginning September until November, 2019.
The art features Manila’s iconic heritage structures such as the Regina Building in Escolta, the Quiapo Church, Manila City Hall, UP Diliman Oblation Plaza, and more.
“The show’s aim, and concept, is rooted in what makes Manila–‘Manila’, in my perspective. I want to show people my love for our capital city and the fleeting moments in between that sculpts it,” the Filipino artist said in an interview with Good News Pilipinas.
“I think it’s only fitting that In Between Manila be shown in Metro Manila, for the Filipinos to see,” Quilop added.
The Filipino watercolorist also said that having a solo art exhibit in his homeland is one of his dreams.
“I wanted to show what I brought in Canada. I really want to have my first solo art show here, as a visual artist,” the Mapua Institute of Technology graduate added.
Manila received praises from American Lifestyle guru and TV personality Martha Stewart during her recent visit, after experiencing the Filipinos’ warm hospitality and seeing local heritage spots and products.
The Philippine capital of Manila, the center of government, trade, commerce, and culture, also recently improved its ranking up 12 notches in the 2019 edition of the Safe Cities Index.
Vince Quilop’s exhibit “In Between Manila” is located at the Altro Mondo Gallery at The Picasso Hotel, Leviste st., Salcedo Village, Makati and will open be starting September 6, 6 PM, until November 3, 2019. Admission is Free.
