Young Filipino Ballroom Dancers Grab Multiple Medals at Taiwan International Dancesport Cup

Young ballroom dancers from Cainta, Rizal, dazzled the global dance floor by winning multiple medals at the 2024 Taiwan International Dancesport Cup.

The talented One Cainta CBD Dancesport Team members clinched a gold, nine silvers, and two bronze medals, along with several other placements in various categories, during the competition held on August 11 in Yunlin County.

Under the tutelage of Coach Rosario Ducay, the dancesport team from Cainta, Rizal, clinched the following medals and placements for the Philippines:

Sabine Yoana Paguio, Greenland Academy

  • Gold – Solo U8 B
  • Silver – Open Synchronized Dance U12 Standard
  • Silver – Solo U8 5 Dance Standard
  • 6th Place – Solo U8 A

Matthew Edmon Ducay, Greenland Academy

  • Silver – Solo U21 – B Standard
  • Bronze – Solo U15 – B Standard
  • 7th Place – Solo U15 – B Latin
  • 8th Place – Solo U15 – A Standard
  • 8th Place – Solo U15 – A Latin

Luanne Keileigh Gabito, Cainta Elementary School

  • Silver – Solo U10 Standard Dance Waltz
  • Silver – Close Solo U10 Tango
  • Silver – Open Synchronized Dance U12 Standard
  • Silver – Open Synchronized Dance U12 Latin
  • 4th Place – Solo Close U12 B Standard
  • 4th Place – Solo Close U10 Viennese Waltz
  • 4th Place – Solo Close U10 Quickstep
  • 4th Place – Solo Close U10 Foxtrot
  • 4th Place – Solo Close U10 B
  • 7th Place – Solo Close U12 A Standard

Filipino ballroom dancers have brought pride and glory to the Philippines by winning competitions abroad.

The Philippine Para Dance Sport Team recently took home 19 medals—nine golds, six silvers, and four bronzes–from the Dearborn 2024 Para Dance Sport USA Open held from August 10 to 11 in Michigan.

In 2019, Pinoy ballroom dancers composed of dance couple Angelo Marquez and Stephanie Sabalo and dance partners Billy John Parcon and Norien Anne Palma, reaped 4 medals at the Asian Dancesport Games in Japan.
