World Record holder Kyxz Mendiola has added an electric bike to his many eco-friendly transportation inventions and it is now available for the Philippine market.
The Filipino inventor made a name for himself after making the first Philippine flying car. He also created the first hoverboard in the Philippines and claimed the World Record for the longest flight of a hovercraft.
A self-taught engineer, Mendiola, says he has always been passionate about electronics, robotics, and new technologies.
His story of humble beginnings and perseverance is driven by his eagerness to simply know and understand how things work and then come up with ideas to improve them – a true desire to innovate.
Kyxz Mendiola is now setting his sights on several new projects toward innovating and designing electric bikes, electric tricycles, and electric cars.
We take a look at his innovative café racer design electric bike “ECX Moto” which he is now producing and available on the market.
What is a café racer motorcycle?
A café racer is a genre of sport motorcycle that originated among British motorcycle enthusiasts of the early 1960s in London. Café racers were standard production bikes that were modified by their owners and optimized for speed and handling for quick rides over short distances. Noted for its visual minimalism. It is actually stripped of items considered “non-essential” such as side panels, rear chain enclosures, and voluminous mudguards (fenders), and were replaced by lighter items, or dispensed with altogether.
Kyxz Mendiola’s Café Racer ECX Moto is made for city driving. They are light and nimble, designed for easy maneuvering to navigate through congested roads and city traffic jams.
The ECX Moto is built with branded, durable, top-of-the-line, high-quality parts. It also boasts of running on a 2-battery pack system that provides a total of 48 volts with 46 amperes. This innovation doubles the range and power compared to other e-bikes that are available in the market, which only run with 1 battery pack at about 20 volts with 23 amperes.
The e-bike is provided with several modes of settings:
- Eco-mode can deliver a distance of 200 kilometers and runs at a cruising speed of 25 kilometers per hour
- Higher speed mode can give a distance of 110 to 120 kilometers.
- Sport mode can come up with a speed of 60 to 65 kilometers per hour on a flat straightaway road.
ECX Moto would only consume a Php60 electric charging expense compared to an ordinary motorbike that needs a Php400 gasoline expense.
With savage gasoline prices and rising maintenance costs, it is not surprising that many bike enthusiasts and people working in the motorbike delivery business are looking towards e-bikes like the ECX Moto as a great and practical alternative to conventional fuel-run motorbikes.
