In yet another momentous chapter of their skyrocketing music career, the Pinoy-pop sensation SB19 notched a stunning new achievement by debuting in the Top 10 of the Billboard World Digital Song Sales Chart.
The five-member group’s latest song, ‘Gento,’ ranked No. 8 this week, marking the second-highest debut on the chart. This remarkable feat has drawn global attention and sparked interest in the rise of SB19 in the world music industry.
The title “Gento” is a creative blend of the words “ganito” (like this), “ginto” (gold), and Caviteño slang “gento” (like this). The track has garnered immense popularity worldwide, sitting just behind K-pop idol group ENHYPEN’s new single, “Bite Me”. The World Digital Song Sales chart reflects the most popular downloaded tracks of the week, with data provided by Luminate, a US company that specializes in online music analytics.
Further amplifying the “Gento” wave, its music video has catapulted to the top of YouTube Trending Videos, amassing over 3 million views and growing. The song has been played on Spotify over 1 million times within just a week of its launch, signifying a sweeping global trend. Released on May 19, 2023, “Gento” is the precursor to SB19’s eagerly awaited “Pagtatag!” album, slated for release on June 9, and a world tour kicking off on June 24.
The group took to social media on May 31 to announce their debut on the Billboard chart for Digital Song Sales, attributing this accomplishment to their devoted fandom, A’TIN. “A’TIN! You keep taking us to heights unimaginable. What you are is truly AMAZING,” they said in a heartfelt post.

The SB19 sensation is no stranger to Billboard chart success. They made history as the first all-Filipino music artists to debut a track on the Billboard Charts with “Bazinga” which competed with and eventually overtook K-pop super idols BTS’ hit “Butter” on the Billboard Hot Trending Songs Twitter-powered tally in the last quarter of 2021. The group’s first all-English track, “WYAT (Where You At)” released in the last quarter of 2022 also debuted strongly on the same chart. SB19 is also the first Filipino act to be named a finalist for the Billboard Music Awards.
SB19, composed of members Pablo, Josh, Stell, Ken, and Justin, is the first Filipino boy band to be trained and managed in the South Korean entertainment style. Their recent triumphs, including the impressive debut of ‘Gento’, continue to elevate the global stature of Pinoy-pop, heralding a new era in the world music scene. Their journey is not only a testament to their talent but also to the powerful support of A’TIN, proving that the rise of SB19 is indeed, ‘gold’ in the making.
