Ortiz is a multi-awarded hitmaker, producer, and artist who is best known for his work with Asia’s premier vocal group, The CompanY.
The Filipino vocal harmony act is famous for hits such as “Everlasting Love,” one of the many songs Ortiz co-wrote, and the songs “Now That I Have You,” “Muntik Na Kitang Minahal,” and many more.
The acclaimed Filipino singer-songwriter founding member of The CompanY joins Good News Pilipinas! TV anchor Trixie Esguerra of Positivitrix in the seventh episode of the new series, “Filipino Pride Newsmakers“.
In the episode, Moy Ortiz tells the story of how he discovered his talent for songwriting by “accident” thirty years ago, his songwriting secrets, and tips.
Ortiz shares how he discovered a knack for writing songs and launching his very own workshop for aspiring songwriters.
Ortiz stays optimistic and busy with his current projects including his online songwriting workshop called “Songwriting From A Songwriter,” a video-on-demand series for beginners that he self-produced during the pandemic.
The renowned musician also talks about heading a music archiving project with fellow Original Pilipino Music (OPM) icons. The initiative named the “OPM Archive” is a digital repository of Filipino music memorabilia that aims to preserve the legacy of OPM.
Ortiz discusses the challenges of taking on the task of music archiving and his hopes for the project that was launched in partnership with the Filipinas Heritage Library of the Ayala Museum.
Ortiz’s group, The CompanY, earlier took part in online concerts for a good cause and shows like the “M-FLIX: Da Pinoy Pandemic Palabas” cheering up Filipinos with “Disco Plantito” during the quarantine. The Filipino vocal group’s singers have a lot in store for fans this year, including new music and more.
The CompanY has dropped new love songs “Sa May Bintana” and “Walang Sayang” earlier in February.
The two songs are part of the group’s upcoming album named “Gitna” which will be released on March 18, 2022.
