Filipino-American singers Saweetie and H.E.R. have collaborated for a new song “Closer” and its music video shows them flying an aircraft to the Philippines.
The Bay Area musicians teamed up to release the catchy track about being carefree and enjoying life in time for Valentine’s Day.
Grammy-nominated rapper Saweetie shared the announcement of the song’s release with the Philippine flag emoji and the hashtags “SINIGANGGANG” and “BAYAREA.”
“#CLOSER OUT NOW WITH MY BAY BAE @hermusicofficial #SINIGANGGANG 🇵🇭#BAYAREAAAAA,” Saweetie shared in an Instagram post on February 11, 2022.
Saweetie’s new single “Closer” features the multi-award-winning R&B singer H.E.R. who echoed the announcement on her own Instagram.
“CLOSER OUT NOW WITH MY BLASIAN BAY SISTER @saweetie #SINIGANGGANG 🇵🇭 #closer #BAYAREAAAAA”
The two artists appear together in the recently released music video for the song which shows the two singers co-piloting an airplane and having fun traveling.
A scene even shows Saweetie and H.E.R. flying across the globe with a stretch from Tokyo to the Philippines, much to the delight of Filipino fans.
Both musicians have honored their Filipino heritage, with Saweetie making headlines for debuting at the Met Gala wearing a gown paying homage to her black and Filipino roots, and H.E.R. making a shoutout to Filipino Pride and her Filipino aunt after her double wins at the Grammys.
Both Filipino Americans are nominated for the iHeartRadio Music Awards and the 64th Grammy Awards.
