Watch Disney’s Filipino family again preparing for the holiday season and the arrival of a new member in their family in the heartwarming final installment of Disney’s festive series, “The Gift”.
The new animated short is part of the American entertainment company’s “From Our Family To Yours” campaign which began in 2020 with a touching tale about a special bond between a Filipino child (Nicole) and her grandmother (Lola), set amid the backdrop of Philippine holiday traditions such as the making of the parol (star lantern).
In the 2021 installment of the Filipino Christmas tale, the world saw Lola’s apo (grandchild) all grown up and nurturing her modern family with her kids’ new stepdad, Mike. The story shows how a family is nurtured by sharing family traditions such as parol-making and creating new traditions and memories.
The final chapter of “The Gift” series in 2022 again follows Mike, Nicole, and her children as their family grows with the arrival of a new child.
The three-minute animation focuses on Nicole’s youngest child, Ella, who initially struggles with the changing family dynamic as she welcomes her new sibling.
The third and final installment of Disney’s festive shorts aims to celebrate the comfort that storytelling can bring families during times of change and how it deepens their bonds through togetherness. The Filipino parol-making tradition again appears in the video, along with Filipino food.
The advert released on November 2, 2022, is part of the Disney trilogy in collaboration with its long-standing charity partner, Make-A-Wish.
This year’s short is accompanied by the original soundtrack “A Little More” performed by Jessica Darrow, the voice of Luisa Madrigal in Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Oscar-winning film, Encanto.
