The young dance varsity squad of VPeepz will move on to the World Finals after getting the highest score from the judges during the Junior Team Division Finals of the NBC World of Dance (WOD) Season 3 on April 28, Sunday (April 29, Monday Manila Time).
VPeepz knocked off competitors in the Division Finals with an MMA cage fight-themed routine to the tune of Nellie and Fergie’s “Party People”, wearing a motif of black-and-orange jumpsuits.
“There are very few people in this competition that even come close,” said judge Ne-Yo about their synchronicity and who gave them a score of 96. Judge Jennifer “JLo” Lopez and Derek Hough gave them a 95 and 97, respectively, resulting to an average score of 96.0.
The Filipino junior dance drew previously received a near perfect score during The Cut to earn a spot in the Divisional Finals.
VPeepz went on social media to thank JLo for mentoring them for the winning routine of the divisional finals.
“We were so focused on always being objective and taking advantage of our strengths, we forgot about the intangibles. With a Thanos-snap of a finger she immediately pointed them out and removed what we both realized we didn’t like and completely revemped our routine to what it is now,” VPeepz wrote on their Instagram photo with JLo.
VPeepz is the first-all Filipino NBC WOD Junior Division Champions, proudly representing the Filipino flag in the world stage, as they will battle out with the other Division Champions: The Kings, Briar Nolet, and Ellie & Ava, for the World Finals which will be shown on television next week.
