Actress Jackie Lou Blanco and her two daughters are the latest solar ambassadors for Liter of Light’s newest campaign to fight energy poverty in the Philippines.

Veteran actress Jackie Lou Blanco with her two daughters Ara and Rik teamed up to build solar lamps for Light it Forward, a video challenge that honors the nation’s medical frontliners by providing sustainable energy for villages without power.

The project is the Liter of Light foundation’s latest initiative to bring high-quality solar lamps to impoverished Filipino homes without electricity amid the ongoing COVID-19 health crisis.

The Light it Forward Challenge seeks to recognize the heroic efforts of healthcare workers serving Filipinos in difficult times by dedicating each lamp generated from the campaign to them.

Light it Forward Challengers are asked to hand-build solar-powered lamps for 20-30 minutes and then asked to dedicate a lamp in honor of a frontline worker who has positively impacted them during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Advocates also have to pass on the challenge to someone else to build more solar lamps for the campaign and raise awareness for the country’s energy-poor while honoring frontliners in their fight to defeat the virus.

Jackie Lou Blanco and her daughters with husband Ricky Davao are the latest celebrity solar advocates to join the fight against energy poverty in the Philippines. Watch as they take on the Light it Forward challenge and build solar lamps.

Movie actress Jackie Lou Blanco introduced herself and two daughters: Ara and Rik to viewers in their Light it Forward video posted on August 24, 2020.

Blanco told netizens they were sent packages from Liter of Light’s latest campaign which tasks solar advocates with building lamps for villagers with little or no access to electricity.

The actress, together with daughters Ara and Rik readily took on the challenge by building their very own solar lamps in the comfort of their home.

The Filipino veteran actress championed Light it Forward’s eco-conscious solar lamps, citing how big of a difference they would make to communities deprived of light:

“Each hand-built solar light will last for the next five years, 12 hours a day, and reduce carbon emissions by 1000 kg! Aside from helping villages to have electricity, we will also be helping our environment,” the actress wrote in her Instagram post.

Rik was also glad to have taken part in the challenge with her mom and sister, and encouraged everyone interested to Light it Forward to reach out to Liter of Light’s Facebook or Instagram.

“Really happy we were able to be part of this. They are helping provide light to communities with no electricity. Tbh, nakakakaba siya and it took us quite a while to do it 😅 but it’s worth it! Because it will help provide light for the next 5 years for 12 hours a day. If you’re wondering how you can help too, send them a message,” Rik said in her social media post.

Veteran actress Jackie Lou Blanco tagged her celebrity friends for the Light it Forward challenge. She nominated the following: Actresses Mariz Ricketts, Katrina Halili, Manilyn Reynes, Sunshine Dizon, Janine Gutierrez, Sheena Halili, Dawn Zulueta, actor Rayver Cruz, and singer Raymond Lauchengco.
