University of Santo Tomas, University of Asia and the Pacific, De La Salle University, and Mapua University are on the 2020 edition of Times Higher Education (THE) World University Impact Rankings based on the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).
UST leads the four Philippine universities in league with the 766 universities from 85 countries in the second edition of THE World University Impact Rankings.
The first UN SDG-based performance rankings were launched in 2019 with DLSU as the lone Philippine educational institution in the bracket that is now held by UST.
Times Higher Education ranked the Philippine universities as follows:
- UST in 301-400 bracket
- University of Asia and the Pacific in 601+ bracket
- De La Salle University in 601+ bracket
- Mapúa University in 601+ bracket
UST ranked high in the following SDGs:
- SDG 3 or Good health and well-being and SDG 4 or Quality education 2020 (201-300th)
- SDG 17 or “Partnerships for the Goals” (82nd)
- SDG 16 or “Peace, Justice and strong institutions”
- SDG 11 or “Sustainable cities and communities”
- SDG 10 “Reduced Inequalities”
- SDG 8 or Decent work or economic growth (301-400)
- SDG 5 or Gender Equality
- SDG 4 “Quality Education” (201-300)
- SDG 13 “Climate Action”
- SDG 12 “Responsible consumption and production” (301+)
UA&P ranked high in the following SDGs:
- SDG 12 or “Responsible consumption and production”
- SDG 8 or “Decent Work and Economic Growth” (201-300)
- SDG 17 or “Partnerships for the goals” (401-600)
- SDG 4 or “Quality Education” (601)
DLSU ranked high in the following:
- Asia University Rankings (2019): 251-300
- Engineering Technology and Social Sciences: 501-600
- Physical Sciences: 401-500
MAPUA ranked high in the following SDGs:
- SDG 12 or “Responsible consumption and production” (301)
- SDG 8 or “Decent Work and Economic Growth” (401+)
- SDG 17 or “Partnerships for the goals” (601+)
DLSU and UST, along with UP and Ateneo also scored high on the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings for 2019.
Mapúa University also gained a spot in the rankings in the 401-450 bracket of the 2019 list of London-based Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Top 500 Universities in Asia.
UP and DLSU also topped the 2020 Webometrics World Ranking for the best quality online content, web presence, and impact among educational institutions in the Philippines.
