United States Open junior champion Alexandra “Alex” Eala is joining the 2023 Miami Open Main Draw as a Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Wildcard entry in one of the most prestigious events in professional tennis.
The 2022 US Open Junior Girls Singles winner who made history for the Philippines is one of the 22 champions and tennis elites announced on March 14 as seeing action as wildcards at the Miami Open scheduled at the Hard Rock Stadium in Florida from March 19 to April 2.
Currently ranked #220 on WTA, the Filipino teen tennis star is returning to the Miami Open for the third time after debuting in the tournament in 2021 as a wildcard in the singles’ qualifying draw and a main draw debut in 2022.

The 17-year-old Rafa Nadal Academy scholar in Spain turned professional in 2020 and has since won two women’s singles tourneys, her first pro title at the W15 Manacor in 2021 and the second championship at the W25 Chiang Rai in 2022.
Eala is a former World Junior No. 2 with three Grand Slam junior titles including the 2022 US Open Championship, 2021 French Open Roland Garros Junior Doubles, and 2020 Australian Open Junior Doubles.
