The University of the Philippines (UP) Pep Squad won 5 medals at the 8th Cheerleading World Championships (CWC 2015) held in Berlin, Germany.
The premier state university’s team won 3 silver medals – in cheer dance doubles, cheer all female, and junior cheer dance doubles.
Another 2 bronze medals were brought home by the teams in small groups mixed and cheerleading doubles.
The country’s representatives at the CWC 2015 competed against 1,300 participants from 20 countries worldwide.
The final tally placed the UP Pep Squad in 4th place in the cheer mixed, 5th and 6th in cheerleading small groups all female, 6th in cheerleading small groups mixed, and 8th in the cheerleading doubles.
The UP Pep Squad holds the most number of Cheerdance Competition titles in the country’s sports federation, the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP).
The UP Pep Squad’s Berlin appearance is its first in the CWC, one of the most prestigious of international cheerleading competitions.
