University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) edible landscaping (EL) starter kits are helping families secure their food source with home gardens.
UPLB’s edible landscaping is the state university’s “foodscaping” model that merges decorative landscaping with sustainable gardening.
Researchers developed the edible landscaping models with the belief that “No Filipino should be hungry” and can go the way of sustainable gardening.
UPLB created 20,000 starter kits that were turned over to the Department of Agriculture (DA) on September 18, 2020, for distribution to selected families.
The EL starter kit includes organic seeds, brochures, and different edible landscape designs fit for urban communities.
UPLB has been promoting its Edible Landscaping garden model as a source of healthy food source during community quarantines to stop the spread of the coronavirus disease.
SEND CHEERS in the comments below to UP Los Baños for creating edible landscaping starter kits to help families create home gardens as their food sources.
