Batangueña beauty Jerelleen Rodriguez, a student at the University of the Philippines (UP) College of Law, has been crowned Reina Internacional del Chocolate 2022 in the recently concluded Reina Internacional del Cacao competition held in Panama.
The Filipina educator and accountant won one of the crowns in the third edition of the beauty pageant that aims to promote the chocolate industry among its participating countries.
Rodriguez was crowned alongside Ecuador’s Laura Aguilera who was named the new Reina Internacional del Cacao 2022.
This year’s representatives from Brazil, the United States, and Mexico placed first, second, and third runner-up, respectively.
Rodriguez was among the 19 contestants during the pageant’s coronation night in Panama City, Panama on March 30, 2022 (March 31, Manila time).
During the question-and-answer round, Rodriguez was asked what message she would share with the international cacao industry if she won the competition.
Rodriguez answered: “Today, as we are still celebrating Women’s Month, I would like to appreciate the women in the cacao industry. In the Philippines, when Super Typhoon Yolanda devastated the province of Samar, the crops were destroyed and as well as the livelihood (of the farmers). And it was the women, the phenomenal women of the province who took it upon themselves to look for a new livelihood, which is cacao. And for these phenomenal women, they’re doing it not only for themselves, but for the future of their families.”
A native of Nasugbu, Batangas, Rodriguez is a cum laude graduate of BS Business Administration and Accountancy from UP Diliman. She is currently a law student at the UP College of Law.
“PILIPINAS!!! We have a new crown!” Jerelleen Rodriguez announced in an Instagram post.
“I am overwhelmed by all your sweet messages. You are all wonderful. Before anything else, the title of Reina Internacional Del Chocolate 2022 is of equal footing with Reina Internacional Del Cacao 2022,” Rodriguez explained.
“The thrust of the organization is the chocolate industry. But there is no chocolate if there is no cacao. Hence the tagline, #sincacaonohaychocolate (no cacao, no chocolate),” Rodriguez adds. “That is why Reina Internacional Del Cacao and Chocolate will represent these industries together as we reign…I am on my way back to the Philippines to start my reign. See you all soon.”
In 2016, Rodriguez represented the Philippines in the Miss United Continents competition and competed in Bb. Pilipinas 2018.
Jerelleen Rodriguez is the newest addition to the roster of Filipinas who have been crowned with beauty titles.
In March, the Philippines’ Kathleen Paton was crowned Miss Eco International in Egypt.
In February, Nica Zosa was crowned Miss Summit International in Las Vegas.
In January, Sabrina Merlina Binder was crowned Miss Supranational Germany 2022.
SEND CHEERS to Batangeuña beauty Jerelleen Rodriguez, a student in the University of the Philippines (UP) College of Law, for being crowned Reina Internacional del Chocolate 2022 in the recently concluded Reina Internacional del Cacao competition held in Panama.
