UP, Ateneo, DLSU, and UST have stayed on top of the Quacquarelli Symonds World Universities Rankings (QS WUR) for the Philippines in the latest edition released this June 2020.
The latest QS WUR Top Universities in the World 2021 report released June 9, 2020, listed the four top Philippine educational institutions within the top 1,029 of the most prestigious universities in the world, a repeat of their 2019 top showing.
The QS World Universities Rankings placed the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) of the United States in number 1 spot in the rankings based on a methodology that assesses each institution on six metrics, including its reputation amongst academics and employers.
The University of the Philippines, the only public university among the four, continues to lead the World Universities Rankings for the Philippines at #396th spot and an Asian University Ranking at #72nd place.
Ateneo de Manila University follows the U.P. with a QS Global World Ranking in the #601-650 bracket and Asian ranking at #124.
De La Salle University and the University of Santo Tomas are both in the #801-1000 bracket. DLSU’s Asian ranking is #156 while UST is at #179.
University of the Philippines
The University of the Philippines’s flagship campus in Diliman, Quezon City leads the nationwide UP System of 8 constituent universities that include UP Manila, UP Los Baños, UP Baguio, UP Visayas, UP Cebu, UP Mindanao, and UP Open University.
The UP community has been leading Philippine universities in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic with its doctors manning the UP Manila-administered Philippine General Hospital, a COVID-19 referral center, UP Diliman serving as testing and quarantine center, and UP Los Banos setting up a testing laboratory.
UP scientists from across all campuses developing innovative medical devices and tools for frontliners and patient care while its students offer health solutions, putting up various information campaigns, and its UP alumni, UP Fighting Maroons athletes, students, staff, and faculty setting up donation drives for frontliners and the poor affected by the community quarantine to stop the spread of the coronavirus disease.
The U.P. still leads the country’s top universities despite its current QS WUR 2021 listing going down to #396 from rank #356 in the 2020 edition.

Ateneo de Manila University
Ateneo de Manila University on Katipunan Avenue Loyola Heights in Quezon City is a Jesuit-run institution whose community has engaged in fundraisers, donation drives, and presented the Virgin Coconut Oil research as a solution to the public health crisis while addressing the needs of its academic community.
The Ateneo maintained its QS WUR in the #601-650 bracket in both the 2020 and current 2021 editions.

De La Salle University
De La Salle University in Taft Avenue, Malate, Manila, is an internationally recognized Catholic university established by the Brothers of the Christian Schools.
DLSU and Ateneo communities together raised over 10 million pesos to support COVID-19 response efforts in the Philippines through Bayanihan Musikahan. DLSU also addressed its academic community needs while students held online fundraisers.
DLSU stayed on the QS WUR #801-100 bracket in both the 2020 and current 2021 editions.

University of Santo Tomas
The four-centuries old University of Santo Tomas, the oldest existing university in both the Philippines and Asia, is located on Espana Boulevard, Sampaloc, Manila. UST community members are among the medical frontliners and have engaged in fundraisers and innovation for COVID-19 efforts.
UST kept its QS WUR in the #801-100 bracket in both the 2020 and current 2021 editions.

The UP, Ateneo, DLSU, and UST were joined by the University of San Carlos, Mapua University, and Silliman University in the QS Asia University Rankings for the top 550 educational institutions in the region for the year 2020.
The QS World University Rankings placed Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) of the United States in number 1 spot in the rankings that evaluated universities according to the following six metrics:
