The world’s tallest tower, the Burj Khalifa of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), is set to once again feature the Philippine flag on Independence Day 2020.
The 828-meter-tall Burj Khalifa will shine with the Philippines’ official flag colors on June 12, 2020, at 9:15 PM.
Lighting up the world’s tallest tower with Philippine flag is the UAE’s solidarity gesture for the Filipino community in the middle eastern country, said the Philippine Ambassador to the UAE, H.E. Hjayceelyn Quintana.
“This is a heartwarming gesture from the UAE that will surely lift up the spirits of many Filipinos working here,” said Amb. Quintana to the media. “I hope that this will spark hope among Filipinos as relations between the UAE and the Philippines continue to grow stronger as years go by.”
Last 2019, photos and videos of Burj Khalifa shining in Philippine colors for the first time went viral on social media.
Moreover, Dubai Festival City Mall’s facade also showcased the Philippines with a multimedia show of Filipino icons such as the Bahay Kubo, Philippine jeepney, Banaue Rice Terraces, indigenous peoples, Pinoy boxing legend Manny Pacquiao, Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray, and more.
