Industry leader, Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation (TMP), has announced its role as one of the official mobility partners for the 2024 Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (APMCDRR), hosted by the Philippines in partnership with the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR).

The conference, taking place from October 14-18, 2024, at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City, will gather around 3,000 global leaders and delegates to address critical disaster risk reduction strategies in the Asia-Pacific region.

TMP recently inked its partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), co-chair of the APMCDRR’s Philippine inter-agency committee, during the APMCDRR Partners Briefing and Memorandum of Agreement Signing event in Makati City. Under this agreement, TMP will provide a fleet of 25 Toyota Camry Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs) and two Toyota Coaster buses to support the transportation needs of the conference participants, including ministers of UN member states and various international stakeholders.

This partnership underscores TMP’s strong support for promoting sustainable mobility solutions and contributing to disaster risk reduction efforts in the region.

Toyota believes that electrified mobility is one of the pathways towards a sustainable future for all. We are committed to help address climate change and promote climate-related risk reduction,” said TMP President Masando Hashimoto.

TMP is honored to be part of one of the most important gatherings in the Asia-Pacific. We wish for the success of the 2024 APMCDRR in leading us with appropriate strategies, making us a region of resilient nations.

Globally, Toyota supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) and aligns its climate action with a commitment to carbon neutrality by 2050. By providing a fleet of HEVs, the company is demonstrating its pledge to reducing its environmental impact and promoting sustainable transportation solutions.

The APMCDRR is the primary regional platform for promoting coordination and cooperation on disaster risk reduction in the Asia-Pacific region. This biennial conference is organized by the UNDRR in collaboration with the host country. It aims to accelerate progress towards the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030.
