The Bridge star Joseph Marco and partner Darja Romanova have teamed up to accept the Light it Forward Challenge to hand-build solar lights to provide a light source to communities without electricity.
The Asia Pacific Social Innovation and Partnership Award-winning LIGHT IT FORWARD campaign of the Liter of Light is a series of challenges to build solar lamps for donation to poor communities without electricity while honoring frontliners in the battle against COVID-19.
Each celebrity solar engineer is asked to dedicate a lamp to any frontliner who have touched their lives during the pandemic and send a message of hope to encourage them.
The assembly process only takes up 20-30 minutes. After that, the finished solar lamp is sent back to Liter of Light to be delivered to far-flung areas of the Philippines where the light source is really scarce.
Local celebrities have been actively participating in the solar lighting movement including Joseph and his girlfriend Darja.
Joseph Marco and Darja Romanova
Wildflower actor Joseph Marco stars in the HBO Asia series ‘The Bridge’ Season 2 where he received praises for his good acting skills while his girlfriend Darja Romanova is a Russian top model.
The couple kept their assembly process simple. They filmed it in a time-lapse mode the entire time and shared the video online on August 16, 2020.
During the process, Joseph was helping his girlfriend from time to time until they both successfully lit the solar lamps and celebrated it with a sweet photo of them holding the lamps.
“In these trying times, us Filipinos have never been this eager to reach out and help other people. This is how we rise up against the pandemic. And by helping others, @darjaromanova and I joined this campaign #LightItForward where we build solar lamps to potentially help those communities who don’t have access to electricity. A little help would always go a long way. @literoflight,” ‘The Bridge’ star captioned his Light it Forward video.
The actor was challenged by “Halik” actress Yam Concepcion and he passed on the LIGHT IT FORWARD challenge to Arjo Atayde, Jake Cuenca, Vin Abrenica, and Culver Padilla.
