Teen actress Teri Malvar is the recipient of the 3rd Screen International Rising Star Asia Award from the New York Asian Film Festival (NYAFF).
The 15-year- old is being recognized for essaying “daring roles that have expanded the range of contemporary Philippine cinema.” Malvar’s role in the film, “Hamog (Haze),” is that of Jinky, a violent street kid who is taken to work as a house maid in a twisted household.
The award is meant to bring the world’s attention to Asia’s most exciting new talents.
