Teen scientist Hillary Diane Andales will soon start her studies as a scholar at the top global university Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
The 18-year-old was offered the MIT scholarship after winning the 2017 Breakthrough Junior Challenge, a global video contest for young scientists. In her winning video, Andales explained Albert Einstein’s Theory of Relativity.

The Philippine Science High School student from Tacloban, Leyte was actually offered 7 other scholarships from various educational institutions but told media she accepted the MIT offer because she wanted to be an astrophysicist.
Hillary Dianne Andales was feted in a send-off luncheon hosted by Richard Hawkins, Micheal Sy, and Gerardo Borromeo early this week, along with 3 other Filipinos who qualified for the MIT Class of 2023 scholarships.
