Team Philippines secured the Overall Championship at the 2024 Singapore International Math Olympiad Challenge (SIMOC), winning 94 awards and showcasing the nation’s brightest young mathematicians.
The 58-member Philippine delegation, composed of Grades 1-10 students, participated in the 10th annual SIMOC, which included an individual Math Olympiad Contest and two team-based challenges—the Math Master Mind Competition and the Mind Sports Challenge. The competition was held at the Star Theatre from July 20 to 24, featuring 2,231 contestants from 35 countries.

Under the guidance of the Asian Math Science League, Inc. (AMSLI) – Philippines, the Filipino mathletes earned an Overall Championship, an Overall Championship 1st Runner-up, 18 Gold Medals, 25 Silver Medals, 37 Bronze Medals, and 12 Honorable Mentions.
Nathan Yip Gohoc from MGC New Life Christian Academy was declared the Overall Champion for Grade 4 as the winner of gold medals in all three events. As SIMOC champion, Gohoc is now inducted into the International Junior Honor Society (IJHS) and awarded a Young Achievers Leadership Academy 5-day live-in camp worth US$1,200, plus a S$250 voucher.
Carsten Edmund Secades Ang, a Grade 7 student from the Chinese International School Manila, was named Overall Championship First Runner-up after winning a gold and silver award. Ang, like Gohoc, is also inducted into IJHS and awarded a S$150 voucher.
Gohoc and Ang, as the Philippines’ top scorers, will receive a one-year training scholarship from International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) country coaches to further their skills and potentially represent the Philippines at the IMO.
