Taal Volcano evacuees have not been forgotten amidst the COVID 19 pandemic and were given cash assistance by the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) in partnership with Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) Area 4.
The victims of the Taal Volcano eruption in January residing in Agoncillo and Lemery towns in Batangas Province were the beneficiaries of the good deed.
PHLPost Area 4 Director Gilbert Javier offered its Cash Pay-out services to facilitate the immediate distribution of PRC relief assistance especially in far-flung areas hardest hit by the volcanic eruption.
“We are happy that PRC is extending its assistance in different localities in Batangas. It feels good that inspite of the pandemic crisis besetting the country and the world, these partnership between NGO’s continue even during these difficult times”, said Director Javier.
He added that, with the dedication of PHLPost employees, the postal service can bridge the gap to deliver assistance extended by generous agencies. Thousands of Filipinos living near the volcano and surrounding areas fled their homes during the eruption which happened early this year.
PHLPost ensures that funds are properly dispensed, using the PRC system platform for quick and secure disbursement of funds. It cuts down the time of registration and the delivery time for assistance to beneficiaries.
The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) is now strengthening its partnership with government and private institutions not only to deliver mail services, parcels, and various goods but also to serve as the catalyst towards alleviating the economic conditions of the people in the countryside.
PHLPost has been giving assistance throughout the health crisis including deploying its Green delivery electric vehicles for relief operations.
Philippine mail has been safely secured by the PHLPost protocols to fight COVID 19.
